This is no Ordinary Recipe Blog.
Rather, this is a place where we can share our culinary adventures with you. Quite frankly, we love food and we love traveling, so combining the two just made perfect sense. On this site we will not only share our travels and advice for traversing the globe, but we will also relate a series of international recipes we have either developed or manipulated from other sources. Our hope is that our experiences will help make your travels all the more fulfilling.
So, where did all these recipes come from? Last summer, Mo and Sotak decided they wanted to start cooking meals from different countries every week, but with a big twist. At the start of the week, a hand-held globe is spun, with a blindfolded party directed to reach out and pick out a spot on the Earth. Of course, we understood that most of the Earth is covered with water, so if the spot was in an ocean, the closest country was chosen instead.
Upon discerning the target country for the week, Mo and Sotak (and special guest stars, including the honorable Andy Young) research a series of recipes in order to compose a full meal typically consisting of appetizers, a main course, and dessert. With recipes more or less in hand, the two grab ingredients from a wide variety of markets that have spanned from Pan Am supermarkets to hole in the wall eastern bazaars to the local Safeway next door. Of course, the beauty of this is being able to experience ethnic markets from around the world, where one can get tips and pointers as to how to prepare certain cuisine or if certain recipes chosen were just plain wrong. Nevertheless, the ingredients are brought back and the manipulated recipes prepared in our own twisted fashion.
